Driggs, ID.

The Millers own land in Driggs, ID and it is absolutely beautiful there! Not to mention tons of fun! We were there for 5 days and accomplished many fun activities, such as:

Going the the Darby Girls Camp. There we had a dutch oven dinner and played on the huge slide, swings and teeter-totter. In this picture we are sitting by a monument in honor of Grandpa Miller. He was very involved with the youth of Eastern Idaho and led many hikes all over Teton Valley. He managed to save the lives of several girls when a sudden storm came up and lightening struck a group he was leading on a hike.

We also went canoeing down the Teton River! It was my first time going canoeing and my poor arms were very sore! I do, however, have a new love for canoeing. :)















We also managed to go on a few hikes. We hiked around Jenny Lake to the "Moose Ponds" and we did some hiking up Teton Canyon. Motorcycle riding was by far my favorite :) We went on a motorcycle ride at least once a day!




















I thought that riding motorcycles was so great because you could actually smell the forest. Sounds weird i know.. but its true! Driggs is only two hours away from Yellowstone, so we decided to go explore the park. Of course, we had to go see Old Faithful.


I think Driggs is one of my new favorite places. Every morning you wake up to the Grand Teton Mountains and its absolutely exhilarating! I can't wait to go back!

Great Outdoors!

First off, my dear cousin Lindsey and her other half Jeff FINALLY tied the knot! I'm so happy for them! They are so stinkin' adorable! So we went up north to go to their wedding reception!

The next day, we went camping with my family! We drove down to Boulder Mountain. Its in southern central Utah right next to Capital Reef National Park! My family goes camping there once or twice a year! Its my favorite place in the world and I finally got to take Todd there! Sadly, it rained the WHOLE time so we ended up coming home early. It was still a lot of fun though, and hopefully we'll go back in August and they weather will cooperate.

One of the highlights of the trip was driving home. We drove home on the scenic highway UT-12. It goes through Escalante and right by Bryce Canyon National Park. Neither of us had ever been to Bryce Canyon so it was exciting for both of us to see the little bit of the park that we did.

We had a blast! The drive home took longer than expected because we kept stopping to take pictures.

Quack Quack!

Todd took me on a mystery adventure today! He wouldn't tell me where we were going until we got there. When we finally arrived, I found myself at a duck pond! We were going to feed the ducks!! :) I think those ducks and geese are very used to humans because they pretty much swarmed us ha ha.

At one point I had birds all around me and they were starting to scare me so I started yelling for Todd to come help me ha ha. The goose in the middle of the picture had a broken foot. :( We think he was hit by a car. I paid extra attention to him and snuck him more bread than the other greedy geese.

Todd caught the attention of a fierce goose with an attitude and frequently squealed ( er.. I mean hollered..) when it got too close. While we were standing there feeding the birds, Todd spotted baby ducks out on the water!

They were the CUTEST baby ducks! I think we used the rest of our bread feeding them! ha ha. Feeding the ducks was so much fun! It was a great surprise adventure! :)

Parade of Parents

The last week has been a week full of adventures with our parents! On Thursday night, Dan and Angie (Todd's parents) and Grandma Ford arrived at our humble home to spend a few days with us. On Friday morning we got up and went to the St. George Temple to do a session. I love going to the temple! Its so great and so peaceful. The last time I did a session in the temple was when I went through for the first time back in February so I was especially excited to go again to refresh my memory. After the session, we ate lunch in the temple cafeteria (their food is delicious) and then walked around the temple grounds to take some pictures.

After we went to the temple Dan wanted to go out to Snow Canyon State Park and drive around. None of us had ever been out there before so we just decided to go explore and check out the scenery.

When we got there we went on a short walk up a trail to see some pioneer names that were painted on the rocks with wagon grease. Some of the names date back to 1881! After that, we drove up to the top of the canyon to a scenic overlook where we could see the entire park!

The next morning Dan, Angie and Grandma Ford left for home. A couple hours later, my parents (Greg and April) arrived. My parents had decided to come down so they could bring us some furniture they were wanting to get rid of. The first day they were here we didn't do a whole lot because I wasn't feeling well. While Todd's parents were visiting I had gotten a cold and was still recovering when my parents came. I was starting to feel better though, so on Sunday we decided to go to Snow Canyon State Park and do some hiking. My family absolutely loves hiking. The only problem was Todd woke up that morning feeling sick. I had passed my cold onto him.. (muhahaha). So he decided to stay home while my parents and I went out to do some hiking.

We chose to do the "Three Ponds" hike. It was a really fun hike but a lot of it was in deep sand. I absolutely HATE hiking in deep sand. Its the worst! It brought back memories of a particular hike we did in Capital Reef National Park called "Lower Calf Creek Falls". That hike is 5.5 miles of walking in deep sand. It was horrible but well worth it! I'd like to go back to Snow Canyon again maybe early in the morning when its cooler and do the hike again.

The next day we took my parents up to a hike up above St. George called "Fat Mans Misery" but i'll post pictures of that later. It was so fun to have family come and visit this weekend! It was nice to have people travel to us instead of us doing the traveling. Its finally starting to really warm up and its going to be a great summer! We love visitors so if you ever feel like coming to sunny St. George we'll give ya a grand tour! :)

Ouch.

Todd has been playing on a mens soccer league for the past month or so and he usually comes off the field with scrapes and bruises! I thought this one was especially cool..

"Ya'll watch out for Gators.."

So, rumor has it that there are alligators in the Virgin River. I never heard this rumor until just the other day when Todd told me after we heard some very suspicious noises at a park.. (dun dun dun)

We decided to go to a park one night to get out of the house and explore. When we got there, we discovered a pile of long wooden poles that were pointy on one end. Suspicious right? So I took a picture of Todd holding one like he was going into battle.

The park was surrounded by a wet, marsh land (as many parks down here are surprisingly). We think it was a branch off of the Virgin River. We were walking by the edge of the water watching a hummingbird buzz through the shrubbery, discussing ways in which we could catch it to take it home and make it drink from our hummingbird feeder (if you've read this blog before you know we're been having a rough time with the hummingbirds.. ha ha). As we were standing there, all of a sudden we heard this huge splash come from the river and grass was being pushed everywhere. My first thought, was "oh maybe a bunny is playing in the water" but I thought that was sorta strange.. so then I said to Todd, "I bet it was a Gator!!". (You see, I've been watching way too many episodes of Billy The Exterminator and gators have been on my mind a lot lately..) That was when Todd told me that there is a rumor about there being alligators in the Virgin River.

I'm sad to say that we didn't see an actual Gator, but it'd sure be cool if we did! I bet those pointy poles we found are gator skewers! I fear for those ducks we saw landing on the river.. If there really are gators out there runnin' a muck, those ducks might be their next dinner!

Green Thumbs.

I dare say Todd and I should be farmers. Our favorite activity for the last month has been planting things and watching them grow. Sounds exciting right?! Well.. it is for us! ha ha. About a month ago, we decided to plant strawberries! We found this cool "strawberry kit" that came with soil, a hanging pot, and seeds. We just couldn't leave the store without it. So, we went home and planted our little seeds! After about a month of growing, we are happy to report that we have cute little plants that are half an inch high (..maybe smaller..). We thought that growing strawberries would be quick and exciting... but actually its similar to watching turtles stampede through peanut butter. Nonetheless, we love our little plants.

Strawberries weren't enough entertainment for us, so we wanted to get planting pots and plant flowers to put on our patio. When we went to visit family this last weekend, my parents gave us some planting pots they weren't using (thanks mama and papa!). We brought them home, filled them with planting soil and planted pretty flowers! I was so excited! Oh, and we put up a hummingbird feeder. Within seconds of hanging the feeder, a hummingbird came zipping on up to it and it scared us. We both screamed (of course) and the bird quickly flew away. I think we scared it and it told its friends not to come to our house because we haven't seen a single hummingbird since. Serves us right for being chickens I guess..
